For My Mom

This week I combined two card making challenges, Daring Cardmakers Challenge and Card Patterns Challenge. The challenge in Daring Cardmakers was to make a card focusing on girls. Considering that I am going to visit my parents next month I made this card for my mom.
This is the card patterns sketch based on which I made my card.
I did running stitch along one edge of the mauve ribbon and pulled it at one end to make the ribbon flower.

Another Card Making Challenge

This week I discovered another card making challenge, this one gives color combinations to work with, it's called "Color Create". This week’s colors are red and green. They also give you an extra option which you can use on your card, this week’s option was wings, I made mine without them :(The watercolor poinsettia has been painted by my mom. I have torn along the edges of red handmade paper with silk fiber for the border.

Card Patterns Sketch #6

This is my take on the card patterns sketch #6.I have been very busy at work lately so I have kept this one really simple. I tried sewing on my card for the first time. I had a really tough time hand sewing along the edges as the paper was very thick, next time I will have to take care and sew on thinner paper. I have recently started using buttons on my cards, they look great on any kind of card!!

Card Patterns Sketch #5

Here is my take on this week’s card patterns card making challenge.

This is the sketch based on which the card had to be made.
I designed this card for a friend’s daughter’s second birthday, her name is Sanskriti.
A friend of mine pointed out that I make only floral cards and I should try out something different so I decided to go with the stars theme.
I stuck golden star shaped sequins on the navy blue ribbon to brighten it up. Quilled stars have been used to give a 3-D effect.

Daring Cardmakers Challenge - Patchwork

This is my second time at daring cardmakers challenge, I really enjoy this, I look forward to it every friday. This week's challenge is to make something inspired by patchwork, this is what I made.
This has been made using hand made with silk fiber in it. The silk fiber in the paper gives beautiful edges when you tear the paper freehand, I simply love the torn edges effect.

This is the sketch on which the card is based.
I had made 2 other cards before this one for the challenge but was not satisfied with either of them.
I have used handmade paper in pink, green and yellow for the card.

A Simple Quilled Card

I had made the background for this card some time back, but could not think of what to put in the foreground. I don’t have a good stamp collection and I cant draw much (that’s an understatement, I can’t draw at all :( ), so I am always at a loss about what to put on my cards. Quilling seems to be the answer to that; it is a fun and easy way to fill up any kind of empty spaces......
I got the idea for these flowers from here.

Watercolor Cards

I made these cards using small watercolors sent by my mom. These were real easy to make as I didn’t have to think about what colors to put on the card. I just built the cards around the watercolors, using the colors from the picture. This was fun; I have to ask my mum to send more watercolors.......
