Snowflakes

This is my take on this week’s Card Patterns sketch. I was up till 1 am last night to make this one, as I am taking a short vacation for the rest of the week and I really hate missing out on the weekly CP sketch.
The background is made using "Faux Postages" technique, which I learnt from Inspirational Tips, Techniques and Tutorials. I keenly follow this blog as it is a great source of some really amazing tutorials.
I wanted to cut out some nice snowflake patterns to put on this one, but I was exhausted by the time I finished packing for my trip, so I just managed to make 2 random free hand snowflakes...which look more like wheels to me now :P .....anyway I have no time to improve on them now.....so this will have to do for now. I will make some more cards with the faux postage background when I get back. Thanks for looking!!

2 Blinding Bright Birthday Cards

I am always at a loss of ideas for birthday cards for children especially boys......so I decided to make some really bright cards with no flowers on them for a change!I am not much of a stamper, and am always looking for ideas which don’t require any or very little stamping...so these 2 cards were ideal for me.
The background is hallmark gift wrapping paper. The candles and “Happy Birthday” has also been cut out from hallmark gift wrapping paper.......

Thinking of You.....

This week’s dare at DCM is “Make a card that shares your love with someone - it could be missing you, thinking of you, across the miles - just let you imagination take flight, as the wonderful design team have!”
This is what I made.
The broad pink lace and pink ric rac is from my stash. The flowers are quilled. The corners of the quilled image have been created by folding punched hearts around the corners. Thanks for visiting!!

Sweet to the Core

I made these last week, but could not find time to post. I made these primarily to use a tiny apple punch which I had got some time back but never used. I combined lots of lace and ribbon in green and red for these.

2 CAS cards

I made 2 more cards using my trademark 3 layered crocheted flowers. This time I used bright colors, red, orange and blue for the three layers........Thanks for looking!!

Bright n Happy

This week I combined the DCM and CP challenges. The DCM challenge is to make something with bright colors like orange and yellow. This is the CP sketch on which my card is based.
I flipped the sketch by 180 degrees. This time I tried a different crocheted flower and I also crocheted the stem and the leaves of the flower.

Multi layered crocheted flowers!!

I seem to be obsessed with crocheted flowers. They look so pretty and I can make them in whatever color combo I desire. I make the base of the card by combing different patterned/stamped paper which I think looks good together and just make a crocheted flower using the same colors.......I absolutely love the way this card has turned out (I know, I know I should let others praise my work, but I can't help it this time cause many times my cards don’t turn out as I imagine they will and this one looks better than I imagined it would!!) The 5 layered crocheted flower has been made by combining a 3 layered flower made of thicker yarn with another 2 layered flower made using thinner yarn......the leaves are quilled. Here is another card with some more crocheted flowers. I have used leaf shaped sequins for the leaves. Thanks for visiting!

Sunshine

This week’s dare at DCM is to make a weather themed card. This is what I came up with.It has not turned up as I wanted. Maybe it’s the colors I chose I guess the chipboard “S” is not blending well with the card but the problem is, I had it only in that color :(. I drew and cut out the waves using left over scraps of cardstock. The sun is stamped using a wooden block stamp. The yatch is from a set of stickers that I have. The sentiment is hand written.

Black and White

This is my take on Card Patterns (CP) sketch 18. This is the first week of the new talented DT at CP. Do check out their take on this sketch.I always wanted to create a card in black and white. When I came across this adorable clip art image from Arthur’s free clip art site I felt that this would be perfect for a black and white card.I stamped three different images on black handmade paper to create the background and outlined it using a 3-D outliner and crocheted a 3 layered flower in white and black to put on the ribbon.

Card Patterns Sketch 17

Here’s my take on this week’s CP sketch. I have diverted slightly from the actual sketch. This is the actual sketch......I hope the DT doesn’t mind.
I decided to do some quilling after a long time......I guess I should quill more often...its so much fun! I left the background blank so that the focus is on the quilled image.
I’d like to share another card I made last week. I made this for my brother-in-law’s graduation. The graduation hat is clipart and the scroll is paper tied in a tight roll with red ribbon. The sentiment is a printout.
